Tencent Mobile Gaming Platform User Base Exceeds 600 Mln

The registered user base on Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent's (0700.HK) mobile gaming platform surpassed 600 mln in July, up over seven-fold from the company's August 2013 figure. In order to play any of the games on Tencent's mobile gaming platform, users must log in via a Tencent WeChat or Mobile QQ mobile messaging account. Compared with the same period last year, the frequency of user logins, amount of user gameplay time, and the number of games on the platform have grown 104%, 44% and 117% YoY, respectively.

Tencent formally launched its mobile gaming platform in May 2013, and in August of that year released mobile puzzle game Craz3 Match, the first game on the platform supporting login via WeChat and QQ accounts. There are 24 games now available on the platform, 21 of which have held the number-one spot on the Apple China App Store's top rated free games list at some point in time. The following games have each achieved daily active users in excess of 70 mln: Craz3 Match, running game Timi Run Everyday, racing game Speed Up, social card and board game Huanle Dou Dizhu, and airplane shooting game Quanmin Feiji Dazhan.

Tencent Games VP Wang Bo believes that in 2015 China's domestic mobile gaming market will grow to RMB 37 bln, and the company forecasts it will share more than RMB 3 bln in revenues with its mobile game developer partners.
