Rumor: Meituan to Acquire Chinese Travel Search Engine Kuxun

Chinese group buy site Meituan has reportedly acquired Beijing-based Kuxun Interactive Technology, operator of travel search engine Kuxun.cn, according to industry sources. Meituan has not made any announcements relating to the purchase, and Kuxun.cn has also not responded to the rumor.

Kuxun.cn, which came online in 2006, offers various channels covering such areas as train tickets, hotels, travel guidebooks, vacations and job recruitment. Kunxun intends to grow the service into an integrated search website. However, after significant staff cuts following the financial crisis in 2008, the site has experienced stilted development.
