Unigroup to Invest USD 600 Mln in Taiwanese Semiconductor Assembly Firm

China's state-owned Tsinghua Unigroup will invest USD 600 mln Taiwan-based semiconductor assembly company Powertech Technology, and become Powertech's majority shareholder with a 25% stake.

Powertech is a semiconductor assembly and testing service provider operating in Taiwan. It will use the funds to expand its high-end packaging and testing services, and increase its R&D efforts.
