Weibo's Shopping Directory User Base Reaches 1 Mln

Cheng Yu, a vice president at Chinese microblogging platform Weibo (Nasdaq: WB), a subsidiary of Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), recently said that as of the end of November, users of shopping directory product Weibo Chuchuang (Weibo Shopwindow) reached 1.03 mln, the total number of products advertised on the platform reached 1.98 mln, and the total number of product views reached 850 mln. The number of registered e-commerce merchants authorized to advertise products on the platform reached 10,000, and users of third-party e-payment platform Weibo Qianbao (Weibo Wallet) reached 48 mln.

Weibo monthly active users currently number more than 222 mln, including 100 mln daily active users. Among users purchasing goods through Weibo, 45% are between 19-24 years old, 28% are 25-35 years old, and 20% are under 18 years old.

In 2016, Weibo will continue to focus on recruiting and supporting e-commerce promoters and buying guide operators, to help them capitalize on their influence. Weibo will also partner with fashionable celebrities to help them capitalize on their fan bases.
