B2C Pharmaceutical E-tailer 'Jianke' Lands USD 100 Mln Series A

Xie Fangmin, CEO of Guangdong-based Jianke Pharmaceutical, recently revealed that the Jianke.com online pharmacy operator has completed USD 100 mln Series A funding from investment firm Crescent Point and will focus on mobile medicine in 2016. Xie said that total sales in 2015 reached more than RMB 1 bln.

Jianke Pharmaceutical, established in 2007, operates nine offline pharmacy chain stores along with online and mobile B2C medical e-commerce platform Jianke. Jianke recently launched a pharmaceutical m-commerce app called Zhangshang Yisheng ("Handheld Doctor"), which lets users engage in online consultations with doctors, read health news, perform self-diagnosis based on online descriptions of medical symptoms, and buy drugs through an online pharmacy. The Zhangshang Yisheng app has already reached more than 100,000 online medical consultations per day and has more than 4,000 doctors providing consultation services to patients.

Editor's Note: A separate article published today in Southcn.com said that Jianke.com had already secured USD-denominated Series A funding in 2015, and was now about to complete USD 100 mln Series B funding this year.
