Beilian, We Doctor to Merge, Launch Internet Maternity Hospital Platform

Shanghai-based maternity-focused app developer Beilian Information Technology has announced that it will merge with online and mobile healthcare solutions developer We Doctor Group's maternity business, and that, backed by We Doctor's online and mobile consultation platform Wuzhen Internet Hospital, the two parties will build an internet maternity hospital. Users of the platform will be able to register for appointments online, and do video, image and voice healthcare consultations online.
After the merger is complete, Beilian Technology co-founder You Changqiao will serve as co-chairman of the new company and We Doctor Group founder Liao Jieyuan will serve as co-chairman and CEO.
Beilian, founded in January 2014, operates several lines of business including a free Wi-Fi system named 'Hos-WiFi' offered in maternity hospitals, a mobile maternity-focused health consultation app 'Yunmi,' which can also be used to record pregnancy-related data, and a maternity e-commerce app 'Yabi.' According to official data from Beilian, by the end of 2015, We Doctor had partnered with more than 1,900 hospitals and its We Doctor platform had over 110 mln users registered under their real names, for whom it had provided medical services in excess of 500 mln times. Beilian has installed Wi-Fi networks in 1,500 maternity hospitals, with these hospitals providing an annual total of 350 mln outpatient services a year, and is used more than 6 mln times a month on average.
Beilian co-founder Yao Ya said that Beilian had completed Series B funding from Kaiwu Capital and other parties in January this year. According to previous reports, Beilian received USD 30 mln in a Series A+ round in May 2015.
