Blood Pressure Monitor Maker 'Kangkang' Secures RMB 8-digit Series A+

Beijing-based smart blood pressure monitor maker Kangkang Shengshi Information Technology recently completed RMB 8-digit Series A+ funding from undisclosed parties, revealed company chairman Zeng Mingfa. The funding will primarily be used to form a chronic disease-focused internet hospital for the southwestern Chinese city of Guiyang.
Kangkang's chronic disease internet hospital will primarily function as a platform for patients to seek second opinions, and will be available through the company's mobile app and official account on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app, as well as through platforms offered by partners such as Xingshulin Information Technology. Users will either be directed to the platform by the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guiyang Municipality once they have completed community health screening, or will be directed by partnering remote medical diagnostic platform operators that have a record of primary diagnosis such as Xingshulin or Alibaba Group's (NYSE: BABA) health affiliate AliHealth (0241.HK).
Kangkang will also recruit specialists from Xingshulin's platforms to provide services for the internet hospital. Kangkang will further partner with Xingshulin to provide additional training to online doctors. Kangkang also plans to partner with pharmaceutical and health insurance companies.
Kangkang, founded in March 2011, released a smart blood pressure monitor "Kangkang Xueya" and companion mobile app. The app reads data from the device and can remind users to check their blood pressure or take medicine. User blood pressure data is stored in the cloud.
Kangkang previously announced winning RMB 8-digit Series A funding in May this year.
