Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Developer Robosea Wins RMB 12 Mln Pre-A
Lieyunwang, 3/28/17
Beijing-based autonomous underwater vehicle developer Boya Gongdao Robot Technology (Robosea) recently completed RMB 12 mln pre-Series A funding from a state-backed industry fund and a fund managed by Tus-Financial Group.
Boya Gongdao, established in September 2015, operates under the brand name Robosea to offer underwater control systems and underwater UAV solutions. It currently offers products including AUV, ROV, underwater gliders, and a fish-like underwater camera system called "Biki."
The Biki underwater camera system is operated remotely through a wireless controller to offer underwater filming capabilities. Users can use a mobile app to view underwater scenery in real time and can set waypoints to indicate path and depth information to guide the device.
Xiong Minglei, CEO of Robosea, said that in addition to these functions, its robotic fish technology can be used for aquaculture, pollution monitoring, education, and pipeline inspection applications, and that the company plans to enter these markets.
Robosea previously completed RMB 1.3 mln seed funding in September 2015 from Xie Dianxia, founder of Shanghai-based virtual reality assistant developer Haizhi Intelligent Technology, and completed RMB 5 mln angel funding from Shanda Capital in May 2016.
