NDRC Allocates RMB 500m for Rural TV and Radio

NDRC.gov.cn, 11/30/07

During 2007, a total of 112,474 "Connecting Every Village" (Cuncuntong) broadcasting and television installations have been made nationwide, among which 100,000 will receive state grants. The central government has allocated RMB 500 mln for the project.

Funding for this project, which aims to extend broadcasting and television coverage to every village, is chiefly used in counties and regions in central China identified as key locations for national poverty alleviation and development. These locations will enjoy the same treatment as China's western counties and regions, with villages of 20 or more households to gain broadcasting and television access.
