CMMB Completes 2nd Round Bidding

Sohu IT, 1/21/08

The second round of bids for transmitters to be used in the CMMB deployment initiative has been finalized, and Guiyang and Lhasa have been eliminated from the list of cities to build networks, reducing the total number to 35. SARFT's Academy of Broadcasting Planning (ABP) has begun preparations to solicit bids for CMMB's broadcast testing systems.

According to ABP head Jiang Wenbo, CMMB will provide three major categories of resources: synchronized broadcasting of existing television programming, new programs meeting the special needs of mobile viewers, and public-interest programming, including weather and traffic updates.
