Investigations into a late April rumor that Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW) would acquire mobile handset design house Longcheer between June and July revealed that both parties are currently considering such an arrangement, and that Longcheer Holdings had long planned to sell off Longcheer, while Foxconn had planned to strengthen its partnership with mobile R&D companies through acquisitions.
Deputy director Hu Zhanfan of China's State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) said at the recent "Forum on Copyright Protection for Olympic New Media" that CCTV enjoys exclusive internet and mobile video broadcast rights on the Chinese mainland and in Macau for the upcoming Olympic Games.
