South China Morning Post, 6/23/08

A senior executive at Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) has claimed that 4G TD-LTE mobile phone services could be ready in China as early as 2010. China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) plans to begin trials of the technology next year, with a possible commercial launch in 2010, and ZTE says it is on schedule to meet China Mobile's targets. The service will initially concentrate on the needs of mobile broadband services, with voice services leveraging existing 3G networks.
