Guangdong Mobile to Encourage SPs to Provide TD-SCDMA Services

Ezcom.com, 3/31/09

Guangdong Mobile has announced that the company will begin accepting applications from wireless value-added service providers (SPs) for TD-SCDMA services in April, with service types to include interactive voice & video response (IVVR), mobile animation, mobile games, and video.

Guangdong Mobile is seeking bids from TD-SCDMA service providers with registered capital of over RMB 1 mln that hold value-added service provider qualifications. Each company is limited to 5 applications per month, with all services needing to support at least 5 different TD-SCDMA handset models.

Guangdong Mobile stated that the company will support successful service providers with favorable terms such as allowing certain TD-SCDMA services to charge high fees to end users, and waiving cooperation service fees. In addition, Guangdong Mobile will expand marketing cooperation and provide promotional services at municipal mobile branch companies for successful applicants.
