GAPP: Q1 China Online Game Revenue Reaches RMB 5.5 Bln

Sun Shoushan, deputy director of China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP), announced at the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy) that in Q1 2009 China's online gaming market achieved total revenues of RMB 5.51 bln, up 8.3% YoY.

Sun pointed out that total sales revenue for the industry is expected to grow by 30% to 50% in 2009, reaching between RMB 24 bln and over RMB 27 bln, as well as generating RMB 67 bln in direct revenue for related industries such as the telecom and IT sectors.
