A source inside China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has revealed that the operator will increase handset subsidies to more than RMB 30 bln next year - roughly three times the amount spent this year - in order to more effectively compete with China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) and China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) rival 3G offerings.
