Kingsoft PR, 11/26/09

Chinese application and entertainment software developer Kingsoft (3888.HK) has announced its financial results for Q3 2009, with net revenues reaching RMB 246.1 mln, up 13% YoY, and up 3% QoQ. Net income attributable to shareholders in Q3 reached RMB 69.1 mln, down 33% YoY and down 28% QoQ. The drop in net income was partly due to increased R&D costs for new game development, and promotional costs for Kingsoft's self-developed pay-to-play 3D martial arts MMORPG, JX Online 3.

Revenue from entertainment software came to RMB 162.8 mln, up 9.3% YoY and up 2.9% QoQ.

Revenue from applications software came to RMB 81.5 mln, up 19.8% YoY, and 3.3% QoQ.

Daily average peak concurrent users of the company's massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) was up 7% year-on-year and 11% quarter-on-quarter to 1.06 mln. The number of monthly average paying users increased 25% YoY and 17% QoQ to 1.54 mln. This quarter-over-quarter increase in daily average peak concurrent users and monthly paying users was due mainly to the commercial launch of JX Online 3 in China and the commercial launch of JX World in Vietnam.

Monthly ARPU for Kingsoft's MMORPGs fell 13% YoY and 10% QoQ to RMB 35. Daily average paying users of Kingsoft Internet Security online services came to 8.27 mln, down 4% YoY.

Monthly ARPU for online services of Kingsoft Internet Security business increased by RMB 0.4 YoY to RMB 2.1. This increase resulted primarily from an increase in the proportion of SMS and bank card subscribers with higher monthly ARPU.
