3G iPad Approved by MIIT, Sales to Begin February

The official website of China's State Radio Regulatory Commission (SRRC), part of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), today listed that Apple's 3G iPad has been approved, and will hit the China market in mid-February.

According to the SRRC website, a WCDMA/WLAN Apple terminal with the equipment number A1337 was approved on December 29 for a period of five years. The 3G iPad model number overseas is A1337. However, before the 3G iPad can be released on the market, MIIT's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (TENAA) must also approve and assign the device a network access permit.
