China Telecom, Coolpad Release High-End Smartphone

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) and Shenzhen-based handset maker Yulong Computer Telecommunication (Coolpad), a subsidiary of China Wireless Technologies (2369.HK), yesterday launched a new high-end smartphone, the Coolpad Daguan HD 9960. The dual-SIM, dual-standby CDMA2000 EV-DO/GSM handset comes equipped with an NVIDIA Tegra3 quad-core processor, 4.7 inch 720p HD touchscreen, and 13MP camera, as well as Coolpad's Android-based CoolLife 4.1 user interface. The handset also comes with Coolpad's "three-stroke" technology, which allows users to find contact information by writing only three strokes of a Chinese character, and Coolpad's cloud security mobile application, which provides anti-theft and anti-eavesdropping measures, pre-installed.

The HD 9960 will go on sale via all channels in mid-November, priced at RMB 4,980.
