China Telecom, Xinhua News Partner on Mobile Reading Devices

The Xinhua News Agency recently signed a strategic partnership framework agreement with China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) for cooperation in areas including mobile reading terminals, wireless data value-added services, internet value-added services, and infrastructure communications.

Under the terms of the agreement, China Telecom and Xinhua will work together to develop specialized, polished new-media products, including Xinhua multimedia reading devices for industry and public applications, integrated news products, and dedicated clients for government, industry, and enterprise services.

Wang Xiaochu, president of China Telecom, noted that a strategic partnership agreement signed five years ago by China Telecom and Xinhua has resulted in a string of services including infrastructure telecom services, industry applications, and value-added services. Since 2008, the two companies have worked together on mobile new-media services.
