Microsoft CEO Meets with Lenovo CEO in China

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Lenovo (0992.HK) has confirmed that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer visited China on December 6 for talks with Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing at his home. According to a reliable source, Jiu Jun, President of Lenovo's Mobile Internet and Digital Home Business Group, and Chen Xudong, Senior VP and China Region Laptop and PC President, both received in-home visits from Ballmer as well.

A source close to Lenovo has revealed that the two companies discussed ways in which they could strengthen their partnerships in the smartphone, ultrabook, and tablet sectors, with Microsoft providing "priority support" to Levono products running the Windows 8 operating system. According to the source, Lenovo and Microsoft would announce further cooperation between the two companies at a press conference early in the month.
