Yesterday afternoon the Founder Technology Group (600601.SH) issued its 2008 notebook business strategy, which covers its products, distribution channels, market, and internal resources allocation, and announced its 2008 notebook sales goal of 800,000 units (in 2007 nearly 300,000 units were sold) to break into the top five in the domestic notebook market.
Acting GM of Founder Technology Group's Mobile Products Business, Zhang Xiaopeng, explained that in the past the company's strategy did not emphasize notebooks, but added that "notebooks are FounderTech's top priority over the next three years". The company will put RMB 200 mln into marketing.
In terms of distribution channels, the new model is "the retail and agent system", which incorporates both retailers and distribution agents. In 2008, the company's distribution support plan will focus providing assistance to distributors in management, prototype displays, and eight other areas.
According to reports, industrial design will be a major breakthrough point in the company's new notebook R&D, and in 2008 four new 13-inch designs will be introduced.
