Shanghai IPTV Subscribers Exceed 180,000

Li Anmin, director of the China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) Shanghai Research Institute revealed that by the end of October, IPTV users in Shanghai had risen to over 180,000. He also mentioned that Shanghai Telecom is cooperating with Shanghai Media Group (SMG) in constructing a unified IPTV platform, which will go into commercial use in early 2008. The new platform will be compatible with equipment from different suppliers, and hopes to help promote the development of the industry chain.
