Rumor: ZTE Beats Huawei for Guangdong IPTV Order

Guangdong Telecom is planning to invest RMB 5 bln in IPTV networks and broadband over the next three years, with results of bidding for supply contracts to be revealed by year's end. According to an informed source, Guangdong Telecom is currently favoring equipment from ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), with Huawei and others looking likely to lose out. Previously Huawei supplied Guangdong Telecom with IPTV equipment for Guangzhou and Shenzhen, with ZTE the provider for Foshan and Dongguan.
