China Mobile to Launch Blackberry Handsets

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) and TCL Communication Technology (2618.HK) are reportedly to co-launch the Alcatel 8700 Blackberry handset this week. Corporate clients will be able to order the devices and gain network access, but the service will not yet be made available to individual customers.

According to a China Mobile source, the roll-out will take place across the country, but Guangdong, Shanghai and Beijing will be the focus for marketing. China Mobile is responsible for running and promoting the Blackberry brand in China, including sales models, planning and pricing. TCL will manufacture the phones and supply them to China Mobile.

Guangzhou users will be able to choose between two packages - 50M of data usage for RMB 398, or 400M, including 2M of international roaming usages, for RMB 598.
