Beijing Unicom to Reduce GPRS Fees

Beijing Evening News, 5/27/08

China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) Beijing branch has introduced new GPRS traffic plans under which pre-pay customers of Unicom's U-power and Ruyitong sub-brands can purchase 10 MB of traffic for RMB 5/month, 50 MB for RMB 15, 300 MB for RMB 50, or 800 MB for RMB 100. Traffic had previously been charged at RMB 0.03/KB. The new rates do not distinguish between local and roaming use of GPRS; users who exceed their bandwidth allocation will be charged at a reduced fee of RMB 0.01/KB. Users of Unicom's Worldwind GSM sub-brand can pay RMB 5/month for 10 MB, RMB 20 for 50 MB, RMB 100 for 800 MB, or RMB 200 for 2 GB.
