CNNIC Establishes Anti-Phishing Alliance

China Securities Journal, 7/23/08

A number of Chinese banks and securities organizations, e-commerce sites, domain name registrars and service providers have joined forces to establish the "China Anti-Phishing Alliance". The alliance will handle responses to incidents of phishing, a type of online fraud. The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) will seek confirmation of fraudulent activity from third-party technology providers such as the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center and the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team and Coordination Center of China. If a website is confirmed to be fraudulent, CNNIC will notify the website's domain registrar or service provider in order to shut down the site. If service to the domain is not stopped, CNNIC will take direct action.

Members of the Anti-Phishing Alliance include the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Huaxia Bank, China Everbright Bank, China Galaxy Securities Company, Tencent (0700.HK), Taobao, Alipay, HiChina and Alibaba (1688.HK).
