China Mobile Unveils TD-HSDPA Data Card Bidding Results

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has announced the results of bidding for TD-HSDPA data cards. The following data card manufacturers were successful in the bidding: Guangzhou New Postcom for 10,000 units; Yongsheng, for 7,100 units; Datang, for 5,000 units; Amoi (600057.SH), for 2,500 units; China Putian (Potevio), for 200 units, for a total of 24,800 units. Putian, New Postcom and Yongsheng will use chips from Chongqing Chongyou Information Technology, Amoi will use chips from Spreadtrum (Nasdaq: SPRD), and the other manufacturers will use Datang chips.

A source at China Mobile stated that Yongsheng, previously an unknown in the TD-SCDMA industry, is a terminal maker in which Datang holds a stake.
