Chinese Hackers Receive Jail Sentences

Zhao Tianlong and Sun Yongzhen, the defendants in a case involving hacking have been found guilty of data theft and sentenced to prison terms of 14 and 11 years respectively.

From October 2006 to September 2007, Zhao used hacker control software to sniff user data passing along telecom operator networks. They proceeded to use the stolen data to purchase game cards and QQ currency which they then exchanged for cash through a series of online sales. The case against them involved incidents in 14 different provinces, with the extent of the fraud in just Zhejiang province's Wenzhou and Suzhou alone reaching 455,394 RMB.
