Shaanxi Telecom Launches LCD TV Ads in Supermarkets

People's Posts and Telecommunications News, 11/13/08

Shaanxi Telecom recently introduced a new supermarket LCD display broadcast network. Using broadband networks, the service provides an advertising channel for clients to provide product information to consumers. To date, the service has already been introduced in 16 Huarun megamarkets with a total of 497 screens. Shaanxi Telecom is preparing to begin the second phase of the project, which will expand service coverage.

The operator has already signed memoranda of intent with more than 20 clients. Supermarkets will join together to bulk-purchase LCD displays; Shaanxi Telecom will provide the network and the content. It is predicted that in 2009, Shaanxi Telecom will cover 80% of the supermarket LCD advertising market with as many as 1,500 displays.
