Apple Receives RMB 400,000 in Trademark Infringement Case

China Business News, 12/03/08

Apple computer has won a trademark infringement case against Shenzhen-based computer electronics manufacturer New Apple Concept Digital Technology, which used a winged Apple logo on its products that bore a strong resemblance to Apple's registered trademark. Apple originally sued both a distributor of New Apple Concept products, and New Apple Concept itself, however the Shenyang Intermediate People's Court recently found that although both companies had infringed on Apple's trademark, only New Apple Concept was liable for damages, and therefore ordered New Apple Concept to pay RMB 400,000 in compensation.
