China Mobile to Launch New WAP Download Platform

CWW, 12/08/08

An industry source has revealed that China Mobile will, through its wireless value-added services subsidiary ASPire Technology, soon release a new WAP download platform separate from its Monternet WAP portal. The new platform will be called "DO" and will allow independent WAP portals, TV and Radio stations and other media content providers to offer content such as ringtones, pictures, wall paper, and videos for download, as well as provide related billing services. The revenue split will be based on China Mobile's standard 15/85 split, with the 85% being further split into 45%, 30% and 10% between service promoters, content providers and ASPire respectively.
