56.com Wins Online Video License

Netease Tech, 12/31/08

Chinese online video site 56.com announced today that it has obtained an Online Audio-Visual Broadcasting License from the State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT).

The company has also announced several changes to its senior management team, with former Sohu vice president Wang Jianjun joining 56.com as its new CEO, and current CEO Zhou Juan taking over as president and COO. The company confirmed last weekend that Jay Chang (Zhang Fuxing), the previous president and CFO, had recently resigned.

Wang Jianjun had formerly served as senior VP for Sohu's search, online gaming, technology and graphics lines; he left the company in January 2007.

In June this year, 56.com was forced to close its site for a 38-day stretch.
