China Distance Education Records Q1 08/09 Loss of USD 0.5 Mln

Chinese online education provider China Distance Education Holdings Limited (CDEL) (NYSE: DL) has announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2008/2009 ended December 31, 2008, with net revenues reaching USD 4.9 mln, up 171.2% year-on-year.

Net loss for the quarter came to USD 0.5 mln, compared to net income of USD 19,000 for the same period in the previous year.

Total course enrollments during the quarter exceeded 341,000, an increase of 137.0% YoY.

Online education services net revenues for the quarter were USD 4.4 mln, an increase of 188.4% YoY.
