Youku Unblocks Baidu Indexing

Sohu IT, 3/03/09

After blocking online search firm Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) from indexing videos for three months, Chinese online video-sharing site Youku has quietly removed the blocks and allowed Baidu to freely index Youku video content. CEO of Youku, Victor Koo, confirmed that the blocks had been removed.

In December 2008, Youku issued a statement saying it had made a strategic decision to block Baidu, in an effort to reduce bandwidth costs.
