A well-informed source reveals that Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) is planning to expand its Internet portal division to the level of business unit, giving it independent content, sales, marketing, and management systems. The business unit would be headed up by current VPs Li Yong and Yu Huafeng. Netease management has already decided to increase investment in the building of content channels over the next two to three years, and to expand online advertising revenues. The adjustment, according to the source, will be announced in March.
