MIIT: Electronics Industry Shrinks 9.4%

At the second annual International Mobile Terminal Technology Summit held recently in Beijing, an official with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed that in January and February the Chinese electronics manufacturing industry recorded negative growth of 9.4%. This is the first time the industry has seen negative growth since China began economic reforms 30 years ago. During the same period, electronic exports fell 19%, and sales revenues for the industry declined 13.3%. The Chinese software industry on the other hand grew 18%.
