Sina, Microsoft Ally on IE8 Applications

Online portal Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) and Microsoft China jointly announced their cooperation on the forthcoming Internet Explorer 8 browser, and demonstrated several Sina-developed services that make use of the new features of IE8, including a new bandwidth accelerator based on IE8, web bulletins, and visual search.

Sina and Microsoft (China) have already worked together on IE8 development for more than a year, with cooperation including website compatibility efforts, IE8-specific portals, and development of a custom branded version of IE8. IE8-specific portals include the Sina IE8 homepage (http://tech.sina.com.cn/ie8.html) and the Sina Music IE8 Lab (http://music.sina.com.cn/yueku/ie8/); Sina also developed accelerators for channels including financial news, weather, and music, as well as visual searches for content including news, stocks, blogs, video, music, and weather. Sina also developed new "web bulletins" to deliver the most up-to-the-minute content to end-users.
