MOFCOM May Raise Price Cap for Rural TV Set Subsidies

An employee at the administrative department of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) has revealed that the ministry is currently in discussion with industry players regarding raising the price cap on color televisions eligible for a government-sponsored rural subsidy on televisions. The price cap may be raised to RMB 3,500, and according to the employee, an announcement will be made no later than June.

Editor's Note: Previously it was reported that many enterprises were requesting the MOFCOM to raise the price cap to RMB 3,000.
