Rumor: Baidu Tests Personalized Home Pages

Sina Tech, 3/26/09

An industry source has revealed that Chinese online search firm Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) is currently conducting internal testing for a new personalized homepage service. Official sources at Baidu refused to comment on the rumor.

The test site of the service states that the site supports multiple tabs, customizable RSS subscriptions, customizable webpage styles, and functionality including information sharing modules. Information sharing modules include items such as popular search rankings, numerous news categories, featured videos, and weather reports.

Both Google China and Netease's (Nasdaq: NTES) Youdao currently provide customizable homepages to users in China.
