Economic Observer, 4/07/09

As part of the Gome Group's (0493.HK) organizational restructuring, headcount at the company's headquarters will be diminished from 1,346 to 1,144 people; the company will streamline from 19 centers and three first-tier departments to 17 centers and 2 first-tier departments, and the chairman's office and planning committee secretary's office, among other offices, will be closed down or consolidated.

Following restructuring, Gome's 3C business center will comprise Operations, Planning and Management, Communications 1, Communications 2, Computers/OA, and Digital Products. Gome will set up a new 'Rural Appliance Initiative Center' comprising second-tier market management, public services, and rural appliance initiative management. VP He Yangqing says Gome will select more than 3,000 non-Gome stores on a contract basis to serve as 'members' to fill out its rural home appliance initiative efforts.
