Tencent to Release Mobile Browser

A source reports that internet and wireless value-added services provider Tencent (0700.HK) recently began low-key testing of a mobile browser which looks similar to, and compares favorably in rendering and performance to, the mobile browser UCWEB. The beta version of Tencent's mobile browser still lacks support for some image formats; it is assumed that Tencent will add in support in subsequent versions.

After its release, Tencent's browser will likely be in direct competition with UCWEB, which currently purports to have more than 70 mln users.
