China Mobile Selects Netbook Partners

Today, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) publicly announced its Category A 3G netbook sales partners. The companies that made the list were: Lenovo (0992.HK), Founder (600601.SH), Tsinghua Tongfang (600100.SH), Haier, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung and Dell. Currently each company is in negotiations with China Mobile's provincial branch offices to determine procurement order sizes and pricing.

Editor's Note: Previous rumor had it that China Mobile is preparing to classify TD-SCDMA netbooks into three categories – A, B, and C. Category A netbook manufacturers will conduct "deep marketing and sales" with China Mobile, including joint marketing and promotional activities nationwide.
