Kylin May License MMO to Tencent

Duowan.com, 4/22/09

Xing Shanhu, vice president of Chinese online game developer Kylin, has revealed that the company is preparing to recruit human resources from universities, and is also planning to cooperate with the China Central Academy of Fine Arts to establish a joint venture education institute. Xing also stated that an expansion pack titled "The Return of the King" for its history-themed MMORPG "Chinggis Khan" (Genghis Khan) is scheduled for an October launch. In the first half of next year, Kylin hopes to launch another game called "Liaozhai", based on a classic book of Chinese ghost stories. Xing mentioned that his company might license Liaozhai to Tencent (0700.HK), but did not reveal any further details. The company currently employs 300 R&D staff, among which 250 are working on the game "Chinggis Khan", while another team works on the research and development of "Liaozhai".
