CVIA Releases TV Set Manufacturing, Sales Statistics

The China Video Industry Association (CVIA) has released national TV set manufacturing and sales data for the first quarter of 2009. Overall 17.34 mln color TV sets were produced, a 9.2% drop compared to Q1 last year; shipments of sets for domestic sale dropped 18.6% to 8.67 mln, while exports dropped 14.9% to 8.37 mln sets. Total export value reached USD 1.67 bln, 18.4% less than that for the same period last year.
