2009 Growth Rate of Plasma TV Sales to Outpace LCD

The State Information Center (SIC)'s Market Office has released its 2008 Flat-screen TV Domestic Urban Retail Market Sector Report, predicting that in 2009 LCD TV sales volume will increase 30-35%, totaling 14.6 mln to 15.2 mln units. By comparison, plasma TV sales volume will grow by 45-50%, with total sales of 1.95 mln to 2.05 mln units.
SIC's Market Office director, Cai Ying, said compared to the same period last year, average prices will drop 15-20% for LCD TVs and 30% for plasma TVs.
