Rumor: China Mobile Tests Time-based Data Packages

An informed insider has revealed that China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) recently completed time-based billing package trials in Zhejiang province. Over 100,000 subscribers participated in the testing, with China Mobile arranging packages with per-day usage including 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours and nearly 10 hours respectively, with corresponding monthly prices of RMB 80, RMB 130, RMB 180, and RMB 230. With testing in Zhejiang completed, areas including Beijing plan to launch time-based billing plans this month. China Mobile plans to launch time-based billing packages for G3 netbook computers as a complementary addition to traffic volume billing choices.
