Shanghai Mobile Details TD-LTE Plan

Yesterday in Shanghai, as part of the first phase of constructing Shanghai Mobile's TD-SCDMA network, Datang Mobile and OEM manufacturer Wuhan Fiberhome Mobile Communication signed a cooperative framework agreement with China Mobile to complete the network, as well as set up a prototype TD-LTE network.

Datang Mobile vice president Ma Jun revealed Shanghai Mobile will construct 15 large base stations for its first prototype TD-LTE network, and will start shipping components for the first commercial TD-LTE network at the beginning of next year.

Shanghai Mobile said that the company will invest RMB 3.6 bln this year to complete the network, RMB 630 mln of which will fund the purchase of 800 base stations to complete the TD-SCDMA network. After the project is finished, the Shanghai TD-SCDMA network will have over 4,500 base stations.
