Youku Announces 3G Mobile Video Strategy

Chinese online video site Youku has unveiled its strategy for 3G mobile video, and has announced the public beta launch of a new mobile video platform that will begin official operations starting from World Telecommunication Day on May 17. The front page of the site includes 5 channels including user-generated content, music, sports, humor and current events. Youku will cooperate with mobile video content licensees to build a mobile video syndication platform for traditional media content. It will also cooperate with mobile carriers to provide an on-demand mobile video solution, and will cooperate with both domestic and international mobile handset manufacturers regarding pre-installed video applications for handsets.
