Alipay Willing to Nationalize

Beijing Business Today, 6/01/09

Polo Shao, CEO of Chinese third-party payment platform Alipay, has stated that if the government required it, the upper management of Alipay's parent company, Alibaba Group, would agree to nationalize the company. However Shao stated that if it made such a move, the company would not give itself to a bank out of consideration for the interests of all other banks who are partnered with the platform.
