Guangdong Telecom Taps Alcatel-Lucent for VDSL2 Network

Alcatel-Lucent subsidiary Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB) has been selected by China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) subsidiary Guangdong Telecom to roll out a VDSL2 (Very high-speed Digital Subscriber Line 2) network in Guangdong province. VDSL2 will allow Guangdong Telecom to use its existing copper infrastructure to offer HDTV, video-on-demand (VOD), videoconferencing, high-speed Internet access, VoIP and other services.
